Start with the exact model's manual
Tube shape, sensor design and transmitter configuration can change orientation and support requirements. A principle that does not require a particular velocity profile does not remove all straight-run, vibration or installation checks. Use drawings, installation instructions and safety documents matching the model, configuration and revision.
Check whether the fluid state can be maintained
For liquid service, assess full-tube conditions, gas accumulation and draining. For gas service, consider condensate and related effects. Choose orientation from the specific manual and process design, not a universal direction rule. Identify drainage, hygiene, cleaning and heat-tracing needs during design.
Review mechanical, environmental and electrical limits
- Temperature, pressure, connection ratings, materials and ambient limits must cover operating and cleaning conditions.
- Use drawings to review space, supports, piping stress and visible vibration sources.
- Check power, cables, grounding, communications and maintenance access.
- For hazardous areas, review the certificate's models, temperature limits, area scope and special conditions.
Confirm suitability, not just physical fit
Keep a location drawing, fluid data, support proposal, certificates and unresolved questions for engineering review. Installation, wiring, valve operation, pipe removal, cover opening and commissioning require authorised personnel following site procedures and product instructions. This is a design checklist, not an installation or hazardous-area work procedure.
